Yes settings allows customization. 

To turn off gift purchase notifications, please sign into your MyRegistry account then click SETTINGS and Notifications & Options. Under NOTIFICATIONS on the left side, you can uncheck the option(s) to get notified when items have be en purchased via email and/or text.
