Drawing names is a key step in organizing a Secret Santa or gift exchange. Our platform makes it simple to assign matches randomly, with options to customize the process. This guide explains how to draw names, review matches, and notify participants on both desktop and mobile devices. You’ll also find tips on handling late joiners and adjusting the draw results for a smooth and fair experience.
Tip: Set exclusions before drawing names to prevent certain pairings.
Desktop
-From your Dashboard, click Draw Names at the bottom of the left sidebar.
-Review the matches.
-To make changes, see Editing Matches.
-When ready, click Notify Matches.
Mobile
-From your Dashboard, tap Draw Names above the guest list.
-Review the matches.
-To make changes, see Editing Matches.
-When ready, tap Notify Matches.
Handling Late Joiners
-If a guest joins after you’ve drawn names but haven’t notified guests yet, you can Redraw Names for all participants.
-If multiple guests join after you’ve already notified others, you can Draw Names just for the new guests, without affecting the original matches.
Tip: You need at least 2 new guests to redraw names. If only one new guest joins after the draw and notifications, it’s up to you to decide how to handle the situation.
Tip: It’s best to wait until all guests have joined before notifying everyone of their matches. If you notify matches while there are pending guests, those guests will receive their matches as soon as they join the event.
